forests and parks: refuges for fauna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The chateau\u2019s parks\u00a0<\/strong>are an environment home to unique plant and flower species <strong>(chestnut trees, firs, tassel hyacinths, wild thyme and more)<\/strong> as well as a few\u00a0<strong>mammals (including hares, foxes and squirrels)<\/strong> and numerous different birds (woodpeckers, wood pigeons, Eurasian hoopoes and more).<\/p>\n<p><strong>50% of the estate is surrounded by an area of forest<\/strong>\u00a0running alongside Mandavit municipal park.<br \/>\nThe estate has a total of\u00a0<strong>12 hectares of preserved forest<\/strong>,\u00a0primarily containing\u00a0<strong>acacias, chestnut and pine trees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the estate\u2019s forests are classified as a wooded area to be preserved, meaning that cutting them down is regulated.<\/p>\n<p>A logger comes twice a year to clean out the undergrowth, and cuts down dead trees (around fifteen a year) to allow the others to grow.<\/p>\n<p>Human activity levels in these forest areas are very low, which benefits fauna biodiversity (<strong>chevreuils, sangliers, blaireaux, renards\u2026<\/strong>) that have made this peaceful place their home.<\/p>\n<p>No hunting is permitted in our vineyard and we make occasional use of a certified trapper to control the population of animal pests (foxes, moles etc.) and regulate the diversity of the site\u2019s animal species (badgers, hares, deer and more).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The chateau\u2019s
