The cork used comes mainly from cork oak forests in Portugal. It is a Mediterranean area with thriving biodiversity: 135 animal and plant species per square kilometre. These forests play an essential role in global\u00a0<b>ecological balance<\/b>, the fight against\u00a0<b>climate change<\/b>, the fight against\u00a0<b>desertification<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0to <b>maintain biodiversity<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3><u><b>A<\/b><\/u><b>\u00a0<\/b><u><b>EXCEPTIONAL CARBON FOOTPRINT:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>A single cork can absorb more than 300g of CO2<\/p>\n<p>The amount of CO2 retained by a cork can offset the amount of CO2 emitted during the manufacture of a glass bottle.<\/p>\n<p>Cork oak forests are also\u00a0<b>effective carbon sinks<\/b>. A \u00ab\u00a0harvested\u00a0\u00bb cork oak tree (from which the cork is taken) naturally renews its bark and\u00a0<b>absorbs 2.5 to 4 times more CO2<\/b>\u00a0than an unharvested tree.<\/p>\n<h3><u><b>RECYCLING:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Corks are environmentally friendly by nature, but recycling makes them even better for the environment!\u00a0<b> Don\u2019t<\/b>\u00a0<b>throw your<\/b>\u00a0<b>corks away! <\/b>In France, and perhaps in your country, there is a parallel collection channel aimed at solidarity. At Ch\u00e2teau Brown, we donate our outdated or used corks to the association\u00a0<b>AGIR CANCER GIRONDE.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3><u><b>COMMITTED STAKEHOLDERS:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p><b>DUCASSE\u00a0<\/b>has been working for over 10 years with the association Le Li\u00e8ge Gascon to bring the local cork oak forests back into production (forest composed exclusively of cork oaks).<\/p>\n<p><b>AMORIM\u00a0<\/b>is a major stakeholder in the world&rsquo;s leading cork recycling programmes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Ch\u00e2teau Brown, we use\u00a0corks\u00a0for\u00a0our fine red wine.
