{"id":3625,"date":"2021-05-03T15:16:34","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T14:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chateau-brown.com\/en\/?p=3625"},"modified":"2021-05-03T15:25:52","modified_gmt":"2021-05-03T14:25:52","slug":"glass-bottle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chateau-brown.com\/en\/glass-bottle\/","title":{"rendered":"Glass bottle"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><u><b>RECYCLABILITY:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p><b>Sorting your bottles allows them to be recycled into new bottles!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Glass<\/b>\u00a0is a <b>reusable<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>recyclable <\/b>material<b>.<\/b>\u00a0It can be\u00a0<b>recycled over and over again\u00a0<\/b>to make new bottles, without any loss of quality.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3627\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chateau-brown.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/recyclage-du-verre.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><u><b>CARBON FOOTPRINT:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p><b>Glass bottles<\/b>\u00a0represent a\u00a0<b>major part <\/b>of the carbon footprint of the Bordeaux wine industry:\u00a0<b>between 15 and 20%.\u00a0<\/b>Their production and transport are very energy intensive.<\/p>\n<p>You can reduce your impact on the environment by choosing<b>\u00a0lighter bottles\u00a0<\/b>and\/or those\u00a0<b>with a high percentage of recycled glass.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>At Ch\u00e2teau Brown<\/b>, our bottles of fine red wine contain<b>\u00a085% recycled glass.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In concrete terms, the manufacture of bottles from recycled glass reduces the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions linked to the transport and direct processing of the glass.<\/p>\n<h3><u><b>LOCAL MANUFACTURING &amp; ORIGIN OF RAW MATERIALS<\/b><\/u><u><b>:<\/b><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>The bottles for our fine red wine are made in\u00a0<b>VAYRES<\/b>\u00a0<b>in Gironde <\/b>by the company\u00a0<b>OI-France<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>They therefore contain\u00a0<b>85% recycled glass<\/b>\u00a0(known as cullet) In the remaining 15%, there is a very high proportion of sand from\u00a0<b>MARCHEPRIME<\/b>\u00a0<b>in Gironde<\/b>. Glass is made from a very pure sand (called silica).<br \/>\nA very small part of the extraction or processing of other glass components (such as soda ash) takes place abroad.<\/p>\n<p>About <b>the packaging used for second wines<\/b>: the bottles were replaced with lighter bottles from 2015 onwards. This was a significant move that reduced the company\u2019s carbon footprint as this <b>change represents 30g less glass per bottle<\/b>, or more than a tonne less of glass depending on the vintage\u2019s production levels.
